Update!

Yay, today we got an update about our little princess! I am so, so happy but now my heart aches even more to hold her!

Does Jieyun know she has a family coming to get her? Has she seen our pictures?

She knows she has a family coming to adopt her. She’s seen the photo album.

How is her health? Has she had any complications from the surgery? Does she have any restrictions?

Her health is good. No complications from the surgery. She is like other healthy children now.

Does Jieyun have a strong attachment to her caregivers? Do you think the transition into our care will be very hard for her?

She has a nanny that she’s attached to. She will know if you love her. We don’t think the transition will be a problem. She is quite flexible. She is easy going and understands quite well.

How does Jieyun interact with other children?

Pretty well.

Please tell us more about Jieyun's personality.

She is fairly introverted. She will play alone in a new environment, and she doesn’t disturb others. She is more active at places she knows. She has attached to her foster family. She likes to be beautiful. She likes to wear her hair in a ponytail or braids. She likes to drink milk and juice.

What are her favorite toys that we can bring with when we come get her?

She likes beautiful American dolls. She likes Mama’s handbag.

What are her sleeping habits like? Does she nap in the day? How long does she sleep at night? Does she wake up during the night?

She sleeps well. Nap 11:50am and goes to bed at 7:30pm. She drinks some milk before bedtime. If she need to go potty at night, she will call mama or turns over her body again and again. She gets up at 6:30am.

What makes Jieyun smile and laugh?

Play with her, listen to music, dance.

We also got updated measurements and let me tell you, the girl is NOT small! This makes me so happy as she came to the orphanage as a sad, tiny, little heart baby and after receiving love and surgery she has become a healthy, chubby, happy girl! Aaaah, please, please Mr Consulate, sign our article 5 soon. We want to play babies, carry purses and put ponies in her hair!!

I have a feeling Neve and Jemma are going to get on like a house on fire!

Thank you ALL for your prayers! God has answered every single prayer! We're almost there!!!

  1. Jaclyn,

I am soooo happy for you guys! Jemma is on the exact same schedule as Ciara was. Ciara loves baby dolls, I mean just loves them, and she definitely has a thing for purses/handbags. The day after we got her in China, we were getting ready to go out and the first thing she did was to gather up mine and my mom's purses and give them to us. She carries one around here all the time.

It's funny because you and I have so many similarities in our lives and now our girls. I'm becoming convinced they were with the same foster family together. Maybe you can check into that :)

  2. Well these Hefei girls all seem pretty similar! Mia likes purses, especially going through mine! She has a couple of her own too. She also takes bottles of milk and was on a similar sleep schedule. I guess that's all pretty typical of 2 years old. Can't wait to follow your journey. Don't worry, the Hefei SWI is great! You'll be able to see what a great job they did with your Jemma soon!
